Cloudy Not Working? Complete Troubleshooting Guide

Cloudy Isn't Responding

When the bot fails to react to commands, issues typically stem from permissions, command synchronization, or Discord service disruptions.

Step 1: Verify Cloudy Is Online

Check your server's member list and confirm that Cloudy appears online.

Cloudy online status

If Cloudy is offline, there may be a temporary outage or maintenance period.

Step 2: Check Bot Permissions

Ensure Cloudy has the following permissions:

  • View Channels
  • Send Messages
  • Embed Links
  • Read Message History
  • Use Application Commands

Step 3: Test Slash Commands

Type / in a text channel and verify that Cloudy's commands appear in the command list. If commands do not appear, Discord may still be synchronizing them.

Step 4: Restart Discord

Close Discord completely and reopen it. This refreshes Discord's command cache and often resolves command-related issues.

Step 5: Try Another Channel

Some channels may have permission restrictions that prevent Cloudy from responding. Try using a command in another channel.

Step 6: Contact Support

If Cloudy remains unresponsive after completing these steps, create a support ticket in the Cloudy Support Server.

Cloudy Won't Join Voice Channels

When the bot fails to connect to voice channels after a music command, follow these steps.

Step 1: Join a Voice Channel

Before using music commands, you must be connected to a voice channel. Cloudy cannot join if the user who requested playback is not connected.

Step 2: Verify Voice Permissions

Ensure Cloudy has permission to: View Channel, Connect, and Speak. These permissions are required for Cloudy to join and play music.

Step 3: Check Channel Limits

If your voice channel has reached its user limit, Cloudy may be unable to join. Increase the channel limit or use another voice channel.

Step 4: Check Role Restrictions

Some voice channels restrict access to specific roles. Verify that Cloudy's role is allowed to join the channel.

Step 5: Use /join

Run /join — Cloudy will attempt to join your current voice channel.

Step 6: Reconnect Cloudy

Run /rejoin — Cloudy will disconnect from the current voice channel and automatically rejoin it, refreshing the voice connection.

Step 7: Use /fixvoice

Run /fixvoice — this command refreshes Cloudy's voice connection and resolves many common connection problems automatically.

Step 8: Force Disconnect

If Cloudy appears stuck in another voice channel, run /forceleave, wait a few seconds, then try /join again.

No Audio Playing

When the bot connects but produces no sound, work through these steps.

Step 1: Verify Cloudy Is Not Muted

Check the voice channel member list and ensure Cloudy is not server-muted. If muted, unmute it and test playback again.

Step 2: Check the Queue

Run /queue to verify there are songs in the queue. If the queue is empty, add a track using /play <song name>.

Step 3: Check Volume

Run /volume to verify the playback volume is not set too low.

Step 4: Verify Your Audio Settings

Check your Discord output device, Discord volume settings, and system audio settings. Sometimes the issue is related to Discord rather than Cloudy.

Step 5: Check if Playback Is Paused

Run /resume — if playback was paused, the current track will continue.

Step 6: Restart Playback

Run /stop, then start a new session with /play <song name>.

Step 7: Try Another Song

The current track may be unavailable. Try playing another song or URL to determine whether the issue is song-specific.

Step 8: Reconnect

Run /rejoin to refresh the voice connection, then /fixvoice to restore audio playback.

Playback Lag and Audio Issues

When experiencing stuttering, distorted audio, delayed playback, or interruptions, follow these steps.

Step 1: Reconnect Cloudy

Run /rejoin — Cloudy will disconnect and automatically rejoin the voice channel.

Step 2: Repair the Voice Connection

Run /fixvoice — this refreshes Cloudy's voice session and resolves most temporary audio issues.

Step 3: Change the Voice Channel Region

Discord voice server issues can cause playback problems. To change the region: open the voice channel settings, navigate to Overview, locate Region Override, select a different region, and save. Then run /rejoin to reconnect Cloudy.

Step 4: Test Another Song

Play another song to determine whether the issue is specific to the current track.

Step 5: Adjust the Volume

Try /volume 50 and test playback again.

Step 6: Verify Your Connection

Check your internet stability, Discord connection quality, and whether other users experience the same issue.

Discord network quality settings

Step 7: Contact Support

If audio issues continue after completing these steps, contact support in the Cloudy Support Server.

Commands Not Showing

Step 1: Restart Discord

Completely close Discord and reopen it.

Step 2: Check Permissions

Ensure Cloudy has the Use Application Commands permission.

Step 3: Wait for Synchronization

Discord may take several minutes to register new slash commands.

Step 4: Reinvite Cloudy

If commands still do not appear, reinviting Cloudy often refreshes command registration.

Step 5: Contact Support

If the issue persists, contact support in the Cloudy Support Server.

Slash Commands Not Updating

Sometimes Discord caches old command data.

Step 1: Restart Discord

Close and reopen Discord.

Step 2: Wait for Command Updates

Global slash command updates can take time to propagate across Discord.

Step 3: Check for Duplicate Bots

Verify that another bot is not causing command conflicts.

Step 4: Reinvite Cloudy

Reinviting the bot can refresh outdated command registrations.

Premium Features Not Working

Step 1: Verify Your Subscription

Confirm that your Cloudy Premium subscription is still active on Patreon or Buy Me a Coffee.

Step 2: Check Server Assignment

Ensure Premium is assigned to the correct server using /premium.

Step 3: Wait for Synchronization

Subscription changes may take up to 45 minutes to update.

Step 4: Refresh Cloudy

Run /rejoin to refresh the active session, then test the premium feature again.

Step 5: Contact Support

If premium features still do not work, create a support ticket in the Cloudy Support Server.

Premium Role Not Assigned

Step 1: Wait for Verification

Payment verification typically takes between 15 and 45 minutes after subscribing.

Step 2: Verify Discord Connections

Ensure your Discord account is connected correctly to Patreon or Buy Me a Coffee.

Step 3: Reconnect Your Account

Disconnect and reconnect your Discord account to the payment provider.

Step 4: Verify Support Server Membership

You must remain a member of the Cloudy Support Server to keep Premium access. Leaving the server automatically removes Premium benefits.

Step 5: Contact Support

If more than 45 minutes have passed and you still have not received your Premium role, create a support ticket in the Cloudy Support Server.

Control Panel Issues

If the Control Panel is not functioning correctly, follow these steps.

Step 1: Verify the Control Panel Exists

Check whether the dedicated Cloudy music channel is still present.

Step 2: Check Permissions

Ensure Cloudy can view the channel, send messages, and embed links.

Step 3: Recreate the Control Panel

Run /setup, select Delete Control Panel, then create a new one.

Step 4: Refresh Cloudy

Run /rejoin or /fixvoice to refresh the active session.

Step 5: Test the Panel

Try searching for a song or using playback controls.

Step 6: Contact Support

If the panel remains unresponsive, contact support in the Cloudy Support Server.

Playlist Loading Problems

If playlists fail to load, follow these steps.

Step 1: Verify the Playlist URL

Ensure the URL is valid and accessible.

Step 2: Check Playlist Visibility

Private or deleted playlists cannot be imported.

Step 3: Test an Individual Track

Attempt to load a single track from the same platform.

Step 4: Reconnect Cloudy

Run /rejoin to refresh the player session.

Step 5: Try Again Later

The music provider may be experiencing temporary issues.

Step 6: Contact Support

If playlists consistently fail to load, contact support with the playlist URL and any displayed error messages.

Fixing Missing Permissions

Missing permissions are one of the most common causes of Cloudy issues.

Step 1: Review Bot Permissions

Cloudy should have access to:

  • View Channels
  • Send Messages
  • Embed Links
  • Read Message History
  • Connect
  • Speak
  • Use Voice Activity
  • Use Application Commands

Step 2: Check Channel Overrides

Channel-specific permission overrides may block Cloudy even when server permissions are enabled. Review both text and voice channel permissions.

Step 3: Test with Administrator

For troubleshooting purposes, you may temporarily grant Cloudy the Administrator permission. If Cloudy works correctly afterward, the issue is almost certainly permission-related. Remove Administrator permissions afterward if they are not required.

Using /fixvoice

The /fixvoice command is Cloudy's built-in voice troubleshooting utility. Use it if Cloudy is stuck in a voice channel, connected but not playing music, or experiencing playback issues.

  • Run /fixvoice
  • Wait for Cloudy to refresh its voice connection
  • Start playback again using /play <song name>
  • Verify that Cloudy successfully joins the voice channel and begins playback.

In many cases, this command resolves voice-related issues instantly.

Using /forceleave

The /forceleave command forcibly disconnects the bot from its current voice channel. Use it when Cloudy is stuck, remains connected after playback ends, or normal disconnect commands fail.

  • Run /forceleave
  • Cloudy will immediately disconnect from the voice channel
  • Wait a few seconds for the voice session to reset
  • Run /join or /play <song name> to start a fresh session
