How to Set Up DJ Mode in Cloudy

Cloudy's DJ Mode allows server administrators to control who can use important music commands. You can restrict selected commands to trusted members, helping prevent unwanted skips, queue changes, and other interruptions during music playback.

DJ Mode is especially useful for public and community servers where many members listen to music together. You can choose which commands should be restricted and give DJ permissions to specific members through a server role.

Cloudy's DJ System also supports queue creators, users who are alone in the voice channel, and server administrators. This gives you more control over music playback while keeping the listening experience enjoyable for everyone.

Requirements

Before setting up DJ Mode, make sure:

• •Cloudy is added to your Discord server.
• •You have permission to manage Cloudy's DJ settings.
• •You have a suitable server role to use as the DJ role, or permission to create one.

What Is DJ Mode?

DJ Mode adds an extra layer of control to Cloudy's music commands.

When DJ Mode is enabled, commands marked as restricted can only be used by members with DJ permissions.

Who Gets DJ Permissions?

Cloudy grants DJ permissions to:

• •Members with the DJ role — users who have the role selected in the DJ System.
• •Queue Creator — the person who started the current music queue.
• •Users alone in the voice channel — users who are alone in the voice channel with Cloudy.
• •Server Administrators — members with administrator permissions.

These permissions help prevent unwanted changes to music playback while allowing authorized users to manage the queue.

Open the DJ System

Use the /dj command in your Discord server to open Cloudy's DJ System panel.

The panel displays your current DJ settings:

• •DJ Mode — whether DJ Mode is enabled or disabled.
• •DJ Role — the currently selected DJ role.
• •Restricted Commands — how many commands are restricted.
• •Queue DJ — the user assigned as the DJ for the current queue, if any.

The panel also provides buttons to manage your DJ settings.

Set a DJ Role

Before enabling DJ Mode, you must select a DJ role for your server.

Create a DJ Role (If Needed)

If you do not already have a suitable role:

• •Open your Discord server settings.
• •Navigate to Roles.
• •Click Create Role.
• •Enter a name, such as DJ, Music Manager, or Music Staff.
• •Save the role and assign it to the members who should manage music playback.

If you already have a suitable moderator or music management role, you can use that instead.

Choose the DJ Role in Cloudy

Return to the DJ System panel and click Set DJ Role.

Cloudy will display a menu where you can choose a role from your server.

• •Click Choose a DJ role.
• •Select the role you want to use for DJ permissions.

After selecting a role, Cloudy will save it as your server's DJ role. Members with that role will receive DJ permissions whenever DJ Mode is enabled.

Click Back to return to the DJ System panel.

Important: You must set a DJ role before enabling DJ Mode. If you try to enable it without selecting a role, Cloudy will ask you to set one first.

Enable DJ Mode

After selecting a DJ role, return to the DJ System panel.

Click Enable DJ Mode to activate DJ Mode. Cloudy will send you a confirmation message once the changes have been applied successfully.

Once enabled:

• •Commands marked as restricted require DJ permissions.
• •Members without DJ permissions cannot use those restricted commands.
• •Authorized users can manage music playback according to your settings.

Note: Enabling DJ Mode does not automatically restrict every music command. You can choose which commands require DJ permissions in the DJ Commands Manager.

Disable DJ Mode

If you want everyone to use music commands without DJ Mode restrictions, return to the DJ System panel and disable DJ Mode. Cloudy will send you a confirmation message once the changes have been applied successfully.

When DJ Mode is disabled, the DJ restrictions are turned off.

Manage Restricted Commands

Cloudy lets you choose which music commands should be restricted to DJs only.

In the DJ System panel, click Manage Commands.

The DJ Commands Manager will display a list of supported music commands.

Each command has a status:

• •Restricted to DJs only — only users with DJ permissions can use the command.
• •Available to everyone — all users can use the command.

Select Commands

Click Select commands to toggle to choose the commands you want to manage.

Select the commands you want to change, then use the available options to manage their restrictions.

Available Options

• •Restrict All — restricts all supported commands to users with DJ permissions.
• •Unrestrict All — makes all supported commands available to everyone.
• •Reset to Default — restores the default command settings.
• •Next — opens the next page of commands when more commands are available.
• •Back — returns to the DJ System panel.

The counter at the bottom shows how many commands are currently restricted and which page you are viewing.

Recommended Commands to Restrict

You may want to restrict commands that can significantly affect music playback, such as:

• •/skip — Skips the current song.
• •/stop — Stops music playback.
• •/clearqueue — Clears the music queue.
• •/shuffle — Shuffles the queue.
• •/jump — Jumps to a specific track.
• •/move — Moves a track in the queue.
• •/loop — Changes the repeat setting.
• •/volume — Changes playback volume.
• •/autoplay — Controls autoplay.
• •/seek — Changes the playback position.
• •/pause — Pauses playback.
• •/play — Starts playing music.

These are suggestions only. The commands available in the manager may vary. Choose the restrictions that best suit your server.

Commands You May Want to Leave Available

Some servers prefer to let everyone use commands that do not significantly disrupt playback, such as:

• •/queue — View the music queue.
• •/nowplaying — View the currently playing track.
• •/lyrics — View song lyrics.

These are recommendations, not fixed settings. You can configure supported commands according to your server's needs.

Remove the DJ Role

If you no longer want to use the currently selected DJ role, return to the DJ System panel and click Remove Role. Cloudy will send you a confirmation message once the changes have been applied successfully.

Cloudy will remove the assigned DJ role from its DJ System settings.

After removal, the DJ Role status will show Not set.

If you want to use DJ Mode again, select a DJ role before enabling it.

Note: Removing the DJ role does not necessarily remove the other sources of DJ permissions, such as the queue creator or server administrators.

Clear Queue DJ

The Queue DJ setting shows the user assigned to the current music queue, if any.

To clear this assignment, click Clear Queue DJ in the DJ System panel. Cloudy will send you a confirmation message once the changes have been applied successfully.

This clears the current Queue DJ assignment. It does not mean that the selected DJ role has been removed.

Review Your DJ Settings

Use the /dj command whenever you want to check your current configuration.

Review the following settings:

• •DJ Mode — confirm whether DJ Mode is enabled.
• •DJ Role — check which role is assigned.
• •Restricted Commands — check how many commands are restricted.
• •Queue DJ — check whether a user is assigned to the current queue.

You can return to the DJ System panel at any time to update your settings.

Troubleshooting

I Cannot Enable DJ Mode

Check that:

• •You have selected a DJ role.
• •You have permission to manage the DJ settings.
• •You are using the /dj command to open the current DJ System panel.

If no DJ role is selected, use Set DJ Role before trying again.

A Member Cannot Use a Music Command

Check that:

• •DJ Mode is enabled.
• •The command is restricted to DJs only.
• •The member has the selected DJ role or another applicable source of DJ permissions.

Everyone Can Still Use a Music Command

This may happen because DJ Mode is disabled or the command is available to everyone.

Open Manage Commands and check the command's current status. Restrict it if you want it to require DJ permissions.

My DJ Role Is Not Set

Open the DJ System panel, click Set DJ Role, and choose a role from the menu.

If you do not have a suitable role, create one in your Discord server settings first.

I Want to Remove All DJ Restrictions

Open the DJ System panel and disable DJ Mode.

If you only want to make specific commands available to everyone, use Manage Commands instead.
