Customize your bot's name, avatar, activity, status, and embed color while enjoying Cloudy's music features without needing to build or host your own music system.
Follow this guide to create your Discord application, connect it to Cloudy, and get your custom music bot online.
Requirements
Before you begin, make sure you have everything you need.
- •Eligible Premium Plan: Custom Bots are available exclusively with Cloudy's Platinum and Sapphire plans.
- •Premium Activation: Premium must be activated on the Discord server where you want to use the feature.
- •Discord Account: You need a Discord account to create your own bot application.
- •Cloudy Dashboard Access: You must be able to access the Custom Bot section on the Cloudy Dashboard.
Important: Make sure you have an active Platinum or Sapphire plan before starting. If you already have an eligible plan, activate premium on your server using /premium if you haven't done so already.Setup Custom Bot
Step 1: Create a Discord Application
First, you'll need to create a Discord application. This application will provide the identity for your custom Cloudy bot.
1.1 Open the Discord Developer Portal
Visit the Discord Developer Portal and sign in to your Discord account.
The Developer Portal is where you create and manage your Discord applications, bot usernames, avatars, and other settings.
1.2 Create a New Application
Once you've opened the Developer Portal:
- •Click New Application in the top-right corner.
- •Enter a name for your application, such as My Music App.
- •Review and accept Discord's Terms of Service and Developer Policy if prompted.
- •Click Create.

Discord will create your application and open its configuration page.
Don't worry about choosing the perfect name right now! You can change your bot's username and branding later.
1.3 Open Your Application's Bot Settings
After creating the application, look at the sidebar on the left.
Click Bot to access your bot's configuration and token settings. You'll need these settings in the next step.

Step 2: Get Your Discord Bot Token
Your bot token allows Cloudy to authenticate and connect your custom Discord application to its infrastructure.
2.1 Locate the Token Section
On your application's Bot page, locate the section for managing your bot token.
Depending on your application's current configuration, Discord may display a button to generate or reset the token.
2.2 Generate or Reset Your Token
Follow these steps:
- •Click Reset Token or the available token-generation option.
- •Confirm the action if Discord asks you to.
- •Copy the newly generated token.
- •Keep it secure until you're ready to connect your bot to Cloudy.

You will need this token when configuring your custom bot in the Cloudy Dashboard.
Keep Your Token Secret
Your Discord bot token works like a password. Anyone who obtains it may be able to control your bot.
- •Never share your token with anyone.
- •Don't post it in Discord messages, screenshots, public repositories, or support tickets.
- •Only enter your token on the official Cloudy website.
- •If your token is exposed, reset it immediately through the Discord Developer Portal and update it in Cloudy's Dashboard.
Important: Resetting your token invalidates the previous token. If you reset it again later, you'll need to update the token saved on Cloudy.
Don't Worry About Gateway Intents
You don't need to enable Presence Intent, Server Members Intent, or Message Content Intent for Cloudy's Custom Bot setup.
You can skip gateway intent configuration entirely and continue to the next step. There's nothing extra you need to enable here!
Step 3: Connect Your Custom Bot to Cloudy
Now that your Discord application is ready and you have your bot token, it's time to connect it to Cloudy.
3.1 Open the Cloudy Dashboard
Visit the official Cloudy website and sign in with your Discord account.

Click on your Account and choose the My Profile section.

Then, from your profile, select the Custom Bot section.

3.2 Set Your Bot Token
Inside your Custom Bot settings:
- •Click Set Token.
- •Paste the token you copied from the Developer Portal.
- •Check that the entire token has been pasted correctly.
- •Click Check Token. If the token is entered correctly, Cloudy's Dashboard will display your bot's information.
- •Click Save Token.

Cloudy will use the token to connect your Discord application to its infrastructure.
Security reminder: Only enter your bot token on the official Cloudy website. Never send your token directly to anyone, including people claiming to be Cloudy support staff.
Step 4: Start Your Custom Bot
Once your token has been saved, you're ready to launch your custom Cloudy bot.
4.1 Start the Bot
Return to your custom bot settings in the Cloudy Dashboard and click Start.

Cloudy will attempt to connect your Discord application to its infrastructure. Give it a little time to initialize.
4.2 Check the Bot Status
After starting the bot, check its status on the dashboard. Your bot should show Online once the connection has been established successfully.
If the status doesn't change immediately, wait a little longer before trying again.
4.3 Invite Your Bot to Your Server
Once your custom bot is online, open the Cloudy Dashboard and navigate to the Custom Bot section. You will see the Discord server where you activated your Cloudy Premium subscription.
- •Locate the Premium server displayed in your Cloudy Custom Bot Dashboard.
- •Click Add to Your Server if the option is available.
- •Select the same Discord server where you activated Premium.
- •Review the requested permissions and authorize the installation.
- •Return to your Discord server and confirm that your bot has joined.
Important: Custom Bots are available only on the server where Premium has been activated. Your custom bot cannot be used on other servers.
Note: If your custom bot is started and added to a server that does not have an active Cloudy Premium subscription, it will automatically leave that server.
Congratulations! Your custom Cloudy bot is now connected and ready for customization.
Customization Options
After setting up your custom bot, you can personalize its appearance and presence to match your brand or community.
The following options are available through the Cloudy Dashboard or the Discord Developer Portal, depending on the setting.
1. Avatar
Give your bot a unique identity by uploading a custom profile picture.
You can use your community logo, project mascot, or another image that represents your brand.
For the best result, use a clear, square image that remains recognizable at Discord's small avatar size.
2. Status
Customize your bot's presence to reflect how you want it to appear on Discord.
Available options may include:
- •Online: Shows the bot as available.
- •Idle: Displays an idle presence.
- •Do Not Disturb: Displays a busy presence.
- •Mobile: Available if supported by Cloudy's customization controls.
3. Activity Type
Choose the type of activity displayed beneath your bot's name.
Supported options may include:
- •Playing
- •Listening
- •Watching
- •Competing
For example, a music bot could use a Listening activity to reinforce its purpose.
4. Activity Text
Set a custom activity message to give your bot more personality.
Example activity messages:
- •your favorite music
- •music with your community
- •powered by Cloudy
- •your server's soundtrack
Choose a short message that fits your brand and is easy to read.
5. Embed Color
Customize the accent color used in supported Cloudy embeds.
Choose a color that matches your bot's avatar, your community's branding, or your server's theme.
A consistent color scheme can help make your custom bot feel more integrated into your community.
